Meet Our Team
Daniel Berkland D.V.M.
Veterinarian/Practice Owner
I graduated from lowa State University Veterinary school in 1982 and started my career in Donnelson, Iowa. In 1983, I joined the Sibley Veterinary Clinic with Dr. Walt Herrmann. In 1984, Loretta and I became owners of the Sibley Veterinary Clinic. Since then, we have expanded our diagnostic, medicine, and surgery capabilities in both large and small animals. In my spare time I enjoy golfing, taking care of my cow herd, caring for my bees and orchard.

Loretta Berkland V.M.D.
Veterinarian/Practice Owner
Dr. Loretta is originally from Philadelphia, PA, where she went to school undergrad and also to veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating with her VMD in 1983. She and her husband, Dr. Dan, have co-owned the Sibley Veterinary Clinic since 1984. She is the mom of 3 sons and 1 daughter, all married and all working in the agricultural field. Her 7 grandchildren (5 boys, 2 girls) are all in Iowa, but about as far apart as they can be, much to her dismay. Dr. Loretta loves her career, especially the part where she gets to play with horses, puppies, kittens, and baby goats. She also enjoys showing horses and after 21 years of 4-H with her own children, is looking forward to 4-H with her grandkids.

Nicole Maggert
Surgery Manager/Registered Veterinary Technician
Hi there!
My name is Nicole and I have been with the Sibley Vet Clinic since the summer of 2017. I studied at Iowa Lakes Community College for the Vet Tech program and did my internship here at Sibley as well. Over the years, I have enjoyed meeting new people and helping clients with their veterinary needs.
In my spare time I like to watch Nebraska volleyball, read, swim, go camping, and walking my dog, Jeep just to name a few.

Paula Leinen

With 10 years of experience in office management, she make sure that everything works correctly and, she thrives on the daily variety of clinic life and, when she’s not managing our busy office, she loves spending time with her family and her two beloved Labs.

Stacy Grunow
Housekeeping/Kennel Management
Beyond the clinic, I am a 5th-degree black belt in taekwondo and an avid fan of sprint car racing, the Broncos, and the Avalanche. My home life is just as busy, as I love spending my free time with my three dogs. Having grown up with pets my entire life, I truly understand the special bond between people and their animals.

Jeni Sarringar
Veterinary Assistant and Inventory Manager
I joined the clinic in 2024 as a part time assistant and have enjoyed being back in a clinic setting. I graduated from lowa State with a Bachelor’s in Animal Science and have worked in the animal health industry for 25+ years in various capacities. My husband and I live on a farm just outside of Sibley where we have a small cow/calf operation, 6000 head nursery, chickens, ducks, cats and 2 dogs. In our “free time” we are following our 4 boys in their various sporting events and activities. I enjoy traveling to warm places, any activity on the water and tending to my garden.
I love that there is something different every day and always an opportunity to expand your knowledge base. It is interesting to see how the veterinary industry has evolved over the years and some old school things still work the best.

Janna Dreessen
Registered Veterinary Technician and Hill Science Diet Manager
I’m Janna, a vet tech graduate from Iowa Lakes Community College. I’ve been around animals my whole life, and I love that every day at the clinic is different and a chance to learn new things. Outside of work you can find me helping out around my family’s farm and working with our herd of registered Herefords.

Veronica Rosales-Hoerichs MVZ
Diploma in Anesthesia and Analgesia for Dogs and Cats (SAAVMEX)
I hold a degree in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science and have experience working with equines, swine, and small animals. I am passionate about surgery, anesthesia, and internal medicine; every day in veterinary practice brings a new challenge.
Since childhood, my dream was to become a veterinarian and follow in my father’s footsteps. Fate brought me to the United States to work on pig farms, but God led me to the SVC to continue my professional career.
I believe that we learn something new every day, and that if you find a job you are passionate about, you will never feel overwhelmed.
In my free time, I love running, weight training, and cooking.

‘I need attention. All the time. If I don’t want it, I’ll be busy sleeping somewhere or MAYBE outside doing my thing and bringing my people dead mice that I catch. If you see me on the counter, be prepared to pet me. I will require it. Otherwise, good luck getting your checkbook out from under my butt.’
